Hello There. I’m Laura.
My family and I are learning how homestead on our 100 year old farm in the heart of Texas.
Being a city gal, this life is new to me but my husband grew up around horses and livestock so he is a little knowledgable on farming. However, never in a million years did I think we would leave the city life for a small acre farm. After having our daughter, we both craved for a more simplistic life.
We found a property about 45 minutes from town and pretty much made an offer that day. We knew the house needed work and the 8 acres of land needed even more. Overgrown and neglected, but we could see the potential. I envisioned raising chickens and farm animals. Growing our own food and canning. Cooking meals from scratch and just a slower paced life.
This way of life is still relatively new to us but we learn everyday and if you’re wanting to start your own homestead or maybe learn a little more about farmhouse restoration and DIY projects, then you have come to right place.
I will share real life stories and adventures as well as “how to’s” on everything we build, learn and make. Thank you for following along this crazy ride and I hope you learn something new!
Happy Homesteading Friends!
